BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU
WISH FOR......
The truth is, when I was 18, Phantom Blue was one of my favorite bands, along with
Testament and Megadeth, among others. I was blown away when I saw the girls on video
from a show in Hollywood. I saw these girls' picture on the inside cover of guitar magazines
in those ads for Shrapnel Records, and I remember thinking " I wish I was in this band "
and " I want to be like them ". I didn't even dare to think that I WOULD BE in the band, now
years later.
BORN AND RAISED TO BE A ROCK'N'ROLL ISLAND GIRL.
I was born and raised in the island of Java in the pacific, where the air is tropically
warm all year long and the beaches are covered with abundant coconut trees and the surf's up
all the time. But I took it all for granted when all I wanted to do was play my guitar.
I didn't start playing until I was almost 18 years old, when my parents bought me my first
guitar. All my friends were busy going out on dates and clothes shopping, and there I was,
sitting in my bedroom practicing my guitar and wondering which kind of pick-up I should buy.
I blew off alot of parties, and instead, I stayed home and learned solos from George Lynch
and Marty Friedman.
WHEN IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT COULD WELL BE TRUE.
After I lived in LA, I heard from a friend that Phantom Blue was looking for a guitar player
for their European tour in 1996. I jumped on the opportunity to audition to get the position,
even though I thought if I got the gig it would be too good to be true. A couple of days
later I got a call from Linda, calling me back in for a second audition. Then they broke the
news to me that I was coming along for the tour, and needless to say, I was very excited.
Soon enough, I was part of the band. I love the band and I love BEING in the band. With the
current line-up, everybody in the band gets along real well with each other, and I hope it stays
that way.
JOJO'S BIGGEST "SECRET" OF ALL.....
I wrote the lyrics to " Secret " sometime in December 1997. I didn't know what to do with it.
And then, one day when I was playing guitar I heard the vocal line in my head exactly what
I wanted it to sound like, and the guitar part just came flowing out with it. I worked on this
song mostly throughout 1998 before presenting it to the band. And it really became a song when
Linda and Lucienne put their imprint on it. What's so secret about " Secret ? " I can't tell
you, because if I do, it won't be a secret anymore!
